Born Hortonville, N.Y., June 10, 1865. Died New Rochelle, N.Y., August 5, 1940. Family niche in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Dr. Cook was the first claimant to the discovery of the North Pole in 1908, the first to climb Alaska's Mt. McKinley in 1906 and the first American to explore both polar regions.
